The Penance pillar is a 3 foot marble poll situated in a semi-public location and is used for two different styles of discipline dependent on what is given. | |||
The first is known as the "Disciplined Mind". The offender is required to hold on the pillar while the one that executes the punishment is behind. The normal punishment is usually the use of a small, thin rod which the offender receives on the back of the lower thighs or the buttocks. | |||
